Congratulations to Upstream BJJ Brown Belt Phillip Thai and Blue Belt Giada Bertonelli on making the podium at this year's IBJJF Pan American Championship. Phillip Thai took gold at Master 1 Brown Belt Light Feather and Giada took Bronze in Master 2 Blue Belt. They both had three fights and showed growth, skill and heart. We are so proud of you!
Upstream BJJ World Master Silver Medalist
Upstream BJJ’s women’s instructor and gym manager, Nora, took second place at the International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation’s Master’s Worlds tournament last weekend in Orlando Florida. After decisively winning two matches she lost by ref’s decision in the finals of the Master 1 Purple Belt Light Feather category. On to the next!
Back to School!
While we are sad to see summer come to an end, we are excited about the new school year at Upstream BJJ! Guest Instructor at Upstream BJJ Thursday 11/29
This Thursday 11/29 Upstream is pleased to host Nina Navid. Nina is a brown belt under Roger Gracie and an instructor at Roger Gracie Academy HQ in London. She is an accomplished competitor as well as coach to one of Europe’s strongest women’s teams. This event will start at 6:30 and will be in the gi. It is FREE to Upstream students and $20 for visitors. Do not miss the chance to learn from such a dedicated and knowledgable athlete!
Great strides for Upstream at the IBJJF Charlotte Open!
Upstream BJJ blue belt Carsyn Nash took home silver this past weekend at the IBJJF Charlotte Open. This was one of her first gi tournaments and her first IBJJF gi tournament. She has made great progress and we are excited to see what she will do next. We are so proud of you Carsyn!

Women's class is back on! 7/14/18
After a short break, women's class is back on schedule this Saturday at 11. Bring your gi and get some training in with other jiu jitsu women. Stick around afterwards for extra rolls at open mat!
